Unbalanced
Presented by Rural Root Theatre
Dinner begins at 6pm, show follows at 7:30pm.
Inspired by a real-life bank robbery that took place in small-town Ontario in 1951, Unbalanced combines history, drama, mystery, and a touch of humour to tell a compelling story of ambition, secrets, and the lasting impact of a single day.
The play begins in the Bradford branch of the Bank of Commerce, where staff members are carrying out what seems to be a routine day. A recent death, missing money, strained relationships, and hidden agendas slowly begin to unravel the professional image carefully maintained by the bank’s manager and employees.
When members of the notorious Bond Gang storm the bank, events take a dramatic turn. Decisions made in the heat of the moment have consequences that ripple through the community for decades. Twenty years later, key figures return to the scene of the robbery, where old wounds are reopened, long-held suspicions resurface, and new revelations come to light.
Written and directed by Peter Veale.
